How effective is it?

By completely trapping all the semen ejaculated by the male, it is very effective when used correctly. Only water-based lubricants should be used with a condom; lotions, oils etc. could break it down. Even though it protects the tip of the penis from transmitting STD's, the areas not covered by the condom, such as the base of the penis and scrotum, can still spread the diseases.
The condition of the condom also affects it's effectiveness.
  • If left in too hot or cold temperatures, it's more likely to break.
  • Old condoms that are past their expiry dates may dry and crack.
  • Tears caused by carelessness will cause the condom to leak.
